I'm not a necorphiliant ... really I'm not, but I do like sculpture and the Père Lachaise Cemetery is one of the most amazing places to go for a stroll if you want to experience sculpture. The art deco monuments are some of the finest examples of that movement. The first time I went it was to see Jim Morrison's grave which was no more than a stone and a hole in the ground where everyone had taken dirt from. That was 1990 and they've had to rebuild his grave numerous times over the years. People just want a part of Jim to take home.
Every time I'm in Paris I try to make a point to take an afternoon stroll there.
