Studio :: The Orange Peel Pot
When I was in my studio back in 1981 I was under deadline to get enough work ready for the show in Laguna. In my haste I left an element out of the celadon glaze recipe I had mixed and glazed fifteen pieces with it and fired them. Upon opening the kiln, at first I was in shock, as I felt I had destroyed most of my important work for the show.
Upon reflection, the next day I embraced these pieces, and their uniqueness and showed them as a part of my collection.
They disappeared quickly and found good homes.
I kept one and it became my favorite piece that I’ve ever made. It always reminded to bend and embrace whatever happens.
That was until one of my cats decided it looked better on the floor than on the shelf.
